Alesandra Brianna Gonzalez Awarded 2026 Alumni Endowment Scholarship

The Sunnyside High School Alumni Scholarship Fund is proud to announce that Alesandra Brianna Gonzalez has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 SHS Alumni Endowment Scholarship, valued at $3,000. Alesandra, daughter of Eva and Jesse Gonzalez of Sunnyside, has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to academic achievement, leadership, and service to her school and community.
Alesandra, a dedicated member of the Grizzly Dance Team for four years, has maintained an impressive 3.40 GPA while actively participating in Honor Society, Web Club and other activities. She is also a recipient of numerous honors, including the Honor Roll, Running Start Presidential Award, and Coaches Award in Dance at SHS. Her service extends beyond the classroom, with significant volunteer work in her community, at her church, the Yakima State Fair, and local summer learning programs.
One of four siblings, Alesandra credits her family and the staff of Sunnyside High School staff, including Jeremy Miller and Deborah Hatley, for inspiring her journey. She plans to attend Central Washington University this fall, where she will major in Health Science and pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

Alesandra’s favorite quote by Frederick Douglass, “If there is no struggle, there is no progress,” reflects her drive and perseverance.
The SHS Alumni Association congratulates Alesandra on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to witnessing her continued success as she works to inspire and uplift those around her.
ABOUT THE SHS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
For the last 11 years, the Alumni Association has received contributions from SHS Alumni, Sunnyside Community Members, Businesses, Parents and Friends of SHS, and the greater Sunnyside Community. We have invested these contributions in an Endowment Account.
We use the earnings and interest earned to award scholarships to deserving SHS Senior Graduates each year. As the Fund grows larger, the scholarships do too! This year, we increased the number of scholarships awarded from the Fund from three (3) to four (4) Scholarships and the amount of each scholarship from $2,500 to $3,000. We hope that as the Endowment grows, we can help more graduates reach their post-secondary goals.
